The only French bookshop with no shop and no shelves

For the regular reader whose independent bookshop has closed, or sits too far away, and who misses being asked: what should I read next?

Le Nuage aux Livres lives on the margin of each book sold.

Step 1

Tell a bookseller what you long to read

You used to walk in and ask what to read next. Here you still can. Describe the mood, the last book you loved, the evening you have in mind.

A bookseller answers, with you, in conversation. No shelf to scan and no list to scroll: someone listens, then chooses.

A woman in a leather armchair at home talks with a bookseller on a tablet, a paperback on her knee

Step 2

Watch the book come alive

Before you decide, see the book in a short film made for it, so you feel its air before you open it.

Then read its own pages, so you know whether its voice is yours.

Two readers at a wooden table, one holding a tablet that plays a film of a house by the sea, the other turning pages of an open book

Step 3

Receive it at home

Once you have chosen, the book travels from the distribution chain straight to your door.

No shop to visit, no queue, no shelf. The conversation is the bookshop, and the book simply arrives.

Conversation with a bookseller

  1. Reader

My bookseller closed last spring. I just finished a slow novel set by the sea and I do not want to leave it. What should I read next?

  2. Bookseller

Then stay near the water a little longer. Do you want a book that consoles you, or one that unsettles you?

  3. Reader

    One that unsettles me, gently.

  4. Bookseller

I have the one. A widow, a house on the tide line, a summer that will not end. Watch its film, read its first lines, and tell me if you want it at home.

The tide came in earlier that year, as if the sea had somewhere else to be.

What should I read next?

Le Nuage aux Livres is a bookshop that is a conversation. The sample above shows how one begins.
